We’re committed to helping as many as we can in the life science industry with our data-based products. To help us in this mission, we’re looking for an experienced business development manager with the enthusiasm and capabilities to bring the full potential of our life science data to the pharmaceutical/biotechnology sector. You’ll be the ideal candidate if you can build on a proven track record of driving new business acquisition, are able to understand complex customer needs and are excited by the prospect of taking ownership for a new segment of our business.


Details

Location: Bath / Remote (UK Based)

Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum, with uncapped commission.

Hours: Full time (4.5 days per week with Friday afternoons off)

Expected interview dates: Monday the 2nd to Friday the 6th of September

About the role

This is a brand new role within our small and highly ambitious team who are defining CiteAb as the world’s leading life science data company.

You’ll be taking total ownership and responsibility for driving sales within a new pharmaceutical/biotech customer segment; this is a high value area that we feel we can make a real impact on.

This will involve producing and implementing a business development plan, including building a network of contacts, identifying opportunities, defining client needs and growing sales. 

You’ll work closely with the CEO to agree key success metrics to measure growth and track sales stats. We have an experienced team, including developers, product managers, sales and marketing experts,  who you’ll collaborate with to maximise the value you can bring. On the back of your success in the role, there may be future opportunities to build a team and develop new hires.


About CiteAb

At CiteAb we have developed industry leading data mining technology to understand how research products have been used in the scientific literature; the information we collect powers both our search engine for researchers, and our data-based products for reagent suppliers, pharma/biotech companies and investors. 

Our reagent search engine fundamentally changes how researchers find products that work and is used by a million scientists from the world’s top universities and pharmaceutical companies. Pharma/biotech companies can also licence our life science data to inform their preclinical research, to help accelerate their work in a variety of unique and high-impact ways.

These services enable us to help scientists from across the globe tackle the big problems in life science research.


You must

  • Have enthusiasm and motivation to drive acquisition of new business that empowers our clients and drives their success, whilst also helping us grow  
  • Have at least three years of success within a sales, business development or similar role in the life science, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Be degree educated (or equivalent experience) ideally in the life sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology or related subject areas)
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a natural ability to evangelise
  • Have an ability to listen, empathise and understand the needs of potential partners
  • Be able to build networks of individuals within our industry  
  • Have the ability to work largely self sufficiently, but also to collaborate closely with other team members when required

Desirable

  • Experience driving new business for data or subscription products
  • An extensive understanding of research antibody use and/or an established network of antibody users
  • A PhD or significant research experience
