Winner profile – ChIP specialist of the Year

Over the past few months we’ve been taking a more detailed look at our 2020 CiteAb Award winners, and today we’re going to talk about our ChIP specialist category.

Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) is an experimental technique used to investigate the interaction between proteins and DNA in the cell.

The method gives invaluable insights into the regulation of gene expression. ChIP is frequently used in studies that focus on cellular differentiation, tumor suppressor gene silencing, the effect of histone modifications on gene expression, and other studies involving transcriptional activation and repression.

This CiteAb award was created to celebrate the supplier with the largest percentage of its antibody citations being for ChIP, recognising suppliers who were true specialists in ChIP – those going out of their way to support research using this important application. The 2020 winners based on our data were Diagenode.

Diagenode is a leading global provider of complete solutions for epigenetics research, biological sample preparation, and diagnostics assays. Among other products, the company offers high quality antibodies to streamline ChIP and ChIP-seq workflows.

The company tells us: “At Diagenode we know how difficult is to find a good quality antibody and how important it is for the success of your assay. As an epigenetics company we develop antibodies specifically against epigenetic targets and validate these antibodies in applications focusing on ChIP and ChIP-seq. Every lot is validated, and only the lots which pass our strict QC is available to customers.

“Our antibodies are used in labs worldwide. Numerous publications citing our antibodies across a number of scientific journals attest to the fact that the scientific community has carefully chosen Diagenode as a provider of ChIP and ChIP-seq grade antibodies. We remain committed to continuing the development of antibodies of the highest quality for epigenetic applications.”

Dr Andrew Chalmers, founder of CiteAb, said: “Congratulations to Diagenode who are smashing it in the ChIP market. The company’s goal of building products with the highest level of performance is clearly paying off!”

We also give a hat-tip to Active Motif who were runners up in this awards category – the company launched the first ever ChIP in 2003 and has been innovating ever since.

We are just starting to think about the 2021 awards and will be announcing the dates for these in the coming weeks. If there a category you’d love to see us include in the next awards we’d love your feedback – please drop us an email on awards@citeab.co.uk
