Having worked closely with many reagent suppliers over the years, we’ve seen first-hand how hard teams work behind the scenes to support scientific progress.
That’s one of the key reasons we created the CiteAb Awards, which celebrate excellence in the research reagent sector.
Our awards have recognised over 50 different companies across a wide range of categories in their 11 years, covering both data-based (using CiteAb citation data to determine winners) and nomination-based categories (with independent judging panels).
Each year, we take a closer look at a few of our award categories to explore what made the winners stand out. In this spotlight, we’re focusing on a highly contested category: the Researchers’ Choice Award.
What is the Researchers’ Choice Award?
We introduced the Researchers’ Choice Award to give a voice to the scientists using reagents and interacting with suppliers first hand.
Rather than relying on internal metrics, this category is based on nominations from researchers themselves – making it quite unique.
We ask scientists to share how a company has helped them drive their research forward. This could be through excellent product performance, customer support, scientific resources offered or something different.
We are always impressed by the examples researchers give of how companies are supporting their work.
The 2025 Researchers’ Choice Winner
The Researchers’ Choice category is always a competitive one in our Awards, and this year was no exception. We received nearly 60 nominations in this category for 11 different companies.
Congratulations to Proteintech, named as the Researchers’ Choice winner in 2025!
They saw many positive nominations from researchers, praising the quality of their products and the service and support they provide to scientists. We received nominations from PhD students to professors and more.
Here’s what some nominators said:
“Great selection of antibodies with affordable sampler sizes and helpful support team. My western blots would not be the same!”
“Proteintech is an amazing organization that truly cares about researchers and scientists. They are always offering fun promos and specials, and their products are of the highest quality.”
Proteintech shared this in response to their win:
“As Proteintech is a company built by scientists for scientists, supporting the research community isn’t just part of our founding principles – it’s at the heart of everything we do on a daily basis. That’s why being named the ‘Researchers’ Choice’ is such an honor.
Proteintech is proud to empower researchers worldwide with extensively validated, reliable tools to drive discovery forward – through a self-manufactured antibody portfolio that covers two-thirds of the human proteome, including our expanding UniRab® recombinant range, which now covers over 2,5000 targets and is set to grow by an additional 3,000 each year.”
Jeff Lee, COO of Proteintech Group

Andrew Chalmers, CiteAb CEO, commented:
‘I am always impressed by the strength of nominations for this award. Many congratulations to the entire Proteintech team – their nominations showed what a great job they are doing in supporting the researchers who use their products. They are very well deserving winners.’
Proteintech were also named as Highly Commended in the Educational Resource of the Year Award for the Proteintech learning portal, an online platform offering free courses for scientists. You can read more about this and the other Awards categories over on the CiteAb Awards website.
We also want to congratulate Leinco Technologies, who were highly commended in this category, demonstrating impressive support for scientists.
