Join us in celebrating the very best researchers and suppliers in the reagent sector!

At CiteAb, we’ve seen the incredible innovation and hard work that reagent suppliers pour into creating products that advance critical research. However, these efforts often go unnoticed.

That’s why we launched the CiteAb Awards—to honor the remarkable contributions of life science companies and individuals in the research reagent field. Over the years, we’ve celebrated achievements from more than 50 organizations, ranging from industry giants to more specialized companies.

Our awards combine data-driven insights from our citation database with nominations from researchers and companies. This year, we’re thrilled to broaden our awards to include categories for applications and new research fields.

Image of the Year

Celebrating the most striking image from a 2024 publication

Join us in recognising the beauty in science. In this category, we’d love to learn more about the images produced in your research or images produced with your products. Companies and researchers are able to nominate.

Do note, this award will be judged by the aesthetic impact of the image.

The Innovation Award

Celebrating an innovative research product or instrument that has met a need or solved a problem

We are seeking nominations for a research product or instrument that has effectively addressed a gap in the market or resolved a known issue in its field. Submissions that provide a clear and concise summary of the product’s benefits, supported by factual evidence, will be rewarded here.

A panel of judges with a keen eye for groundbreaking innovations will evaluate entries based on the following criteria:

  • The broader impact of the product on the industry.
  • The novelty of the solution or its success in addressing a market gap.
  • The added value the product brings to researchers’ work.

Award for Significant Individual Impact

Celebrating individuals who have made a remarkable positive mark on the life science industry

For this award we want to recognise achievement from those at all stages of their career in industry.

The winner in this category could have made an impact cumulatively over the course of their career, or through a single project. This could cover product development, business leadership, initiatives within organisations or something else entirely.

For success in this category we recommend outlining clearly any statistics, anecdotal examples or quotes of how this person has made an impact, to back up claims. Our judges will be looking at the strength of a single nomination, and not counting the number of entries to determine our winner.

Educational Resource of the Year

Celebrating an educational resource or initiative that has made an impact on the life science research community

This category recognises an organisation that has produced an effective resource to help researchers in their work. This could be a resource around education on a complex technique in the lab, an issue in a certain field, or best practice for a certain methodology. For some inspiration, you can read about the 2024 winner here.

Our judges will be looking for:

  • The impact made by the initiative (statistics are encouraged!)
  • The quality of the resource produced, and how novel this resource is
  • The reach in the amount of researchers helped

Novel Application of the Year

Celebrating an innovative application using research reagents in a 2024 publication

In this brand new category for 2025, we are shining a light on the innovation researchers are creating at the bench. The supplier whose products have contributed to this novel application will also be recognised – so if you are a company, we also welcome your nominations!

The award will be judged by a panel of top scientists in their fields. They will be looking for a concise and understandable summary of the application, how it can be used, and any statistics or examples of its benefits, as well as:

  • The wider impact made to the life science community
  • The quality and originality of the application

Researchers’ Choice

Celebrating the supplier researchers have been most impressed by in the past year

This highly competitive category is a little bit different to our other nomination awards. For this award, we ask researchers to nominate a reagent supplier for reasons such as:

  • High quality or great value life science products
  • Customer service that goes above and beyond
  • Scientific support offered

By submitting a reason for a nomination, you will be entered into a £100 amazon voucher prize draw.

Categories determined by CiteAb data

Learn more about the data based categories in the CiteAb Awards

Our data-driven awards are determined through analysis of our citation-based reagent database, using specific criteria to identify the winners.

Over the past decade, we’ve developed a highly comprehensive life science database by combining advanced data collection technology with thorough human review. By analyzing citations and experimental details from preprints, open-access, and subscription-based publications, we’ve built a deep understanding of reagent use across the globe. You can learn more about our approach on our website.

The 2025 data award categories celebrate a wide spectrum of achievements in the life science research reagent industry, spotlighting both industry leaders and rising stars.
