At CiteAb, our mission is to help as many scientists as possible find the right antibodies & reagents to accelerate reliable research.
In February, we’re taking a big step forward with the launch of the CiteAb Explore platform – which includes a new subscription model and improved research tools.
Read on to find out more about the Explore Platform tools (including a new Image Search Engine, and improved Reagent Search Engine), what our subscription model is going to look like, and how you can sign up ahead of launch.
Why are we introducing subscriptions to CiteAb?
By introducing a subscription model, we will be better able to invest in the development of our platform and the improvement of our search engines – tools that help to support scientists find reliable reagents and carry out more reproducible experiments.
This change will also enable us to continue growing the data foundation behind CiteAb. Our database currently covers over 16 million reagents, including antibodies, cell lines, models, and more, linked to citations, supplier data, third-party data, and published images. Collecting more data to share via our platform means more informed decisions by scientists globally.
What are the subscription changes coming in February?
Below, we outline the account changes we are introducing on the 9th February 2026. Read on to find out how you’ll access the CiteAb Explore Platform moving forward.
Commercial / Industry Users
From 9th February, commercial users will require a paid subscription to access both improved and new CiteAb tools. This change will support the continued growth of our search platform, ensuring we are able to provide the best tools on the market to help accelerate research.
Existing users can enjoy uninterrupted access to CiteAb by viewing account access options and signing up pre-launch here.
You’ll also be able to pick the right subscription for you through your account portal when we launch in February, with individual and team packages available. We’ll be offering a two week free trial.
Academic Users
Academic and non-profit users will get free access to our new and enhanced research tools, whether that’s through existing or new accounts. It’s our way of continuing to support individuals and organisations helping to drive the life sciences forward.
Subscription Levels
We will be offering individual, lab & enterprise wide accounts with our new subscription model.
Lab group and enterprise accounts will include a brand new feature, the ability to share data privately with your team on the CiteAb platform. Through this reagent commenting feature, teams will be able to reduce duplicated work and improve knowledge sharing. Get in touch for more information!
If interested in using our reagent data internally, we also offer enterprise-wide data licensing through a CiteAb Unlimited subscription.

What research tools are available in the CiteAb Explore Platform?
Subscriptions to CiteAb Explore will provide access to both new and existing research tools on CiteAb.
The CiteAb Explore Platform will comprise the Reagent Search Engine, expanded to include data on Instruments, and a brand new Image Search Engine, as well as our custom supplier directory.

These search engines empower scientists to find the right antibodies & reagents faster; saving valuable research time, patient samples, and driving more successful experiments.
More information on the new and improved tools in the Explore Platform:
- The Reagent Search Engine enables researchers to search and evaluate available life science products and supporting experimental data, all in one place. This tool is already trusted by tens of thousands of scientists each month, and we are improving it by adding additional data!
As of 2026, instrument data is now available in our reagent search engine – enabling scientists to find and evaluate nearly 2000 instruments for their experiments!
- The Image Search Engine is our brand new tool launching on CiteAb Explore. It allows scientists to explore hundreds of thousands of published images, cropped to the panel of interest, to support experimental planning and help scientists find validated reagents.
