  • Get your free data on the top SARS-CoV-2 research antibodies
  • And learn all about our 'Supplier succeeding in SARS-CoV-2 Research' award winners

Today we are catching up with one of our product managers, Rhys Bowen-Morris, who has been taking a look at our newest dataset, focused on SARS-CoV-2 research reagents.

Rhys – can you tell us a bit about this new dataset?

Yes, our SARS-CoV-2 dataset has been developed over the past few months, as a precursor to the launch of our new COVID-19 platform for researchers. The dataset includes 7,000 reagents from over 150 suppliers, all of which have been used in SARS-CoV-2 research, and have been cited in academic publications. Our COVID-19 platform allows researchers to quickly find reagents that have already been used in SARS-CoV-2 research, and explore how they were used, ultimately allowing them to select products they know are most suitable for their work. It is also used by suppliers of SARS-CoV-2 research reagents, to assist them in making informed decisions on their catalogue, for example through the identification of gaps in their current antibody reagents or to prioritise their marketing at the institutions most active in this research.

Which supplier’s products are having the greatest impact on SARS-CoV-2 research?

We recently held the 2021 CiteAb Awards, and the winner of our ‘Supplier succeeding in SARS-CoV-2 Research’ category was Sino Biological. This award was made based on our data gathered from the start of the COVID-19 pandemic onwards, analysis of which demonstrates that Sino Biological is the company that has seen the most citations for Antibodies, Kits and Proteins with SARS-CoV-2 as a target during this time. The second most successful company in this area is Genetex, again with a high number of citations for reagents used in SARS-CoV-2 research.

Can you tell us which the most cited antibodies for SARS-CoV-2 research are?

Today I am going to give away free data for the top ten most-cited SARS-CoV-2 research antibodies. Sino Biological and Genetex dominate the top ten, and we also see Prosci featured. It is very clear that these companies quickly rose to the global challenge posed by COVID-19 and responded with quality products that have been used in research around the world. Our full SARS-CoV-2 dataset contains over 24,000 citations for products associated with and used in COVID-19 research – do contact me if you’d like to discuss how insights from this dataset or any of our other data can support your business development.

Is there more to this dataset than we’ve had time to discuss today?

Yes absolutely, this really is just a small snapshot of the data we have for antibodies used in SARS-CoV-2 research. In total this dataset incorporates five reagent types, and can be used to take a deep dive into the use of products by country, researcher, journal and more. In the future I would love to return to this dataset here on the blog and talk about our data on the top kits, top proteins, and the most active research institutions.
