  • Why should you enter?

Have you achieved something remarkable this year?

While establishing CiteAb, we found that the innovation and effort that reagent suppliers put into developing products and supporting essential research often went unrecognised.

And so we created the CiteAb Awards. Our awards mark the achievements of life science companies and individuals in the research reagent sector. Over the past year we have celebrated over 50 different companies, from the big names in the life sciences to smaller, more specialist companies.

We draw on our citation database to celebrate the success of suppliers across a range of markets in our data-based categories, as well as asking for nominations from companies and researchers in our nomination-based awards. This year, we’ve expanded our awards to encompass digital tool makers and educators.

We are so excited to share with you our awards for 2024 and to see all your fantastic nominations!

Introducing the 2024 CiteAb Award categories

For our nomination categories, you are able to self-nominate (excepting the Researchers’ Choice Award) and submit a nomination in as many categories as you like! Entry in the CiteAb Awards is free of charge.

So, without further ado, here are the categories:

Calling all researchers! For this award, we ask for scientists to nominate a supplier that has impressed them with their products, customer service, or something else entirely.

Nominators will be submitted into a £50 amazon voucher prize draw.

Have you produced or seen a striking image in a publication over the past year?

For this award, we are celebrating the power of a beautiful scientific image to communicate impactful research. Researchers can submit an image they’ve produced from a 2023 publication, or suppliers can submit images using their reagents to be considered for the win in this category.

Have you launched or used an innovative life science research product in the past year?

We are searching for a product that has solved a known issue or satisfied a gap in the market, helping to accelerate scientific research. Simply submit a description of a product and the challenges it solves to be considered for this award.

Our impressive judging panel in this category are:

  • Asel Sartbaeva: Associate Professor of Chemistry at Bath University and CEO of EnsiliTech
  • Victoria Sherwood: Scientific and Medical writer and host of the STEM careers blog, Biomed Badass
  • Lena D’Hooghe: Principal Scientist at UCB

Nominate your colleague or someone you know who has made their mark on the life science reagent sector!

We are looking to celebrate the wider impact made to the life science community by an individual in industry, whether this be over the course of their career or through one piece of work.

This category recognises an organisation that has produced an impactful resource to help researchers in their work.

Inspired by the theme of education that came from the 4th International Antibody Validation meeting, we introduced this award for the first time this year. Nominate your company’s initiative, or a resource you have found useful for this category!

This category recognises a tool that has helped life science researchers in a novel way. This could be anything from an e-lab notebook, to digital science ecosystems to analysis tools. This award will be judged by our partners who have plenty of experience in producing impactful digital life science tools.

Our judges:

  • Robin Padilla: Director of Product Management at Springer Nature – read more about our partnership with Springer Nature here.
  • Tom Russell: General Manager at JAGGAER – read more about our partnership with JAGGAER RMM here.
  • Daren Young: CEO of FluoroFinder – read more about them here.

Categories determined by CiteAb data

For our data-based awards, we analyse our citation-based reagent database for certain criteria to determine winners.

We have built a comprehensive life science database over the past decade by developing industry leading data collection technology, augmented by extensive human reviewing. Mining pre-prints, open-access and closed-access publications for product citations and experimental information enables us to identify and understand global reagent use. You can find out more on our website.

The 2024 data categories represent a broad range of achievements in the life science research reagent industry, recognising both the leading and up-and-coming suppliers.
