We’re growing our team!
We are thrilled to welcome two new team members to CiteAb, with the addition of Justin Ngai as Associate Product Manager and Ben Daniel-Thorpe as Software Developer.
This past year has been a very busy and exciting one for us here at CiteAb, as we’ve grown our datasets and product base, and have supported the decision making of more researchers, life science reagent suppliers and investment companies than ever before. As a result, we need extra hands to support our product development and to ensure we always offer the very best customer experience we can.
Justin Ngai joins our team as Associate Product Manager from his postgraduate studies at the University of Dundee. His Masters degree was focused on Biomedical Science, and followed an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Bath. Justin also held a year-long role as a research assistant during his degree placement year which gave him great experience of working in a research lab.
Justin tells us: “At CiteAb I will be helping further develop the products we offer to support researchers and supplier in making more informed decisions when purchasing reagents or investing in their marketing. I am looking forward to using my bioscience background and my interest in recent trends in both academia and in the lifescience industry to inform my day to day work. I am also looking forward to working with the rest of the CiteAb team who have an impressive wealth of expertise, and with our clients who are located all over the world.”
In his spare time, Justin enjoys cooking and gaming. He loves trying out new recipes so we’re all really looking forward to getting back to the office as the pandemic restrictions lift so we can taste test a few for him!
Ben Daniel-Thorpe has joined our team as a Software Developer, supporting our existing development staff and provided much-needed extra support as our platform grows. Ben joins us from a previous data scientist role, and holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the Open University, and MSc in Theoretical Physics from Durham University, and PGCE in Mathematics from Bristol University.
Ben says: “I am passionate about machine learning and artificial intelligence, and am looking to contribute as much as possible in this area to the development of CiteAb in my new role. CiteAb is doing some really positive work in helping accelerate research into infectious diseases and I want to be a part of that. I am also really looking forward to working with the development team at CiteAb and doing some super-nerdy coding!”
Ben is in the process of moving to a new flat in Bristol which he will share with his brother. In his spare time he enjoys producing music and DJing.
Dr Andrew Chalmers, Founder of CiteAb, said: “Both Justin and Ben have impressive skillsets which will be an asset to CiteAb. We are all looking forward to working with them both. I’ve been really impressed by how well they have done starting new jobs under such unusual circumstances, and hope we can soon return to the office and work face to face. We have ambitious plans for the further development of CiteAb and these appointments will support us in realising these.”
