The CiteAb Awards celebrate the very best of the research reagent sector, at both an individual and company level. As an industry that often goes unrecognised, we love to celebrate the positive global impact the sector makes each year as it pushes scientific progress forward.

Our awards have now been running for nine years, with different categories each year to capture the breadth and growth within the industry.

The 12 awards this year went to 15 different companies, ranging from the largest suppliers in the sector to smaller suppliers succeeding in their niche.

Meet our 2023 winners below…

How do we determine CiteAb Award winners?

We are often asked how our winners are chosen, the criteria we use and how our data plays into the CiteAb Awards. Below we take you through how our data-based awards and nomination-based awards are determined.

Data-based Awards

For data-based award categories we analyse our citation database, covering over 13 million products and 6 million citations, to determine winners in certain research areas or for specific product types. Our life science data consists of accurate information mined from the scientific literature, including open-access, subscription-only and pre-print journals.

For our ‘supplier of the year’ awards we determined suppliers with the most citations for a certain reagent type, and for our ‘supplier to watch in 2023’ awards the suppliers with the largest percentage increase in citations from the previous year were selected. Our research area award recognises the supplier with the most citations across all reagent types and instruments.

Nomination-based categories

In these categories, we utilised the expertise of our impressive judging panels to independently assess award nominations, as well as the internal CiteAb awards panel. We received more nominations than in any other year, of an impressive calibre, making the judges’ decisions particularly difficult!
